Why Dumpster Rental Companies emphasize Safety Tips and Tricks so Much More
As one of Toronto and the GTA’s premiere dumpster rental and waste collection companies, we understand the value of safety and security. To customers, this counts for a lot.
In order to bring the best service to our clientele, safety needs to be at the forefront. Dumpsters are heavy and they create an environment where there is increased possibility of someone being hurt or harmed.
There are many safety procedures we have in place to ensure our dumpsters are used correctly. We have also written on a number of safety subjects related to dumpsters and waste collection, informing our customers on how best to proceed when renting from us.
We strongly advise anyone handling debris to wear the appropriate safety clothing, including gloves, foot protection, eye protection, and tough-material clothes. The last thing we want is personal injury occurring to someone handling a dumpster rental. Any clothing that is worn should prevent the wearer from getting scratched or snagged on something.
With regards to what’s being dumped, if you are unclear on the safety of materials, always consult with your dumpster rental company first. Hazardous waste should never be placed in the dumpster. By doing so, you may be subject to additional charges. It will also contaminate whatever else is in there, resulting in any recyclable materials have to be discarded.
Any dumpster unit should never be loaded beyond the edge of its walls. When it is, we run the risk of seeing falling debris potentially injure those in close proximity. It bears keeping in mind that the dumpster will be moved at the end of one’s rental period and thereby to ensure that anything inside is secure enough to be able to withstand transportation. To this point, one must ensure that any lightweight materials such as cardboard are pinned down by heavier items. Also, if a renter can distribute as evenly as possible the weight of materials in the dumpster, that goes a long way in keeping things secure.
To keep customers safe throughout the dumpster loading process, ensure that it is not positioned nearly electricity lines. If you require having to move the dumpster after we have dropped off the container, do not attempt to do it yourself. We would much rather prefer you calling us and we can provide some different options, instead of seeing a client attempt it alone. Any children or pets should be kept away from the dumpster, and the immediate area should be as cleared and clean as possible.
The weight of the dumpster before it’s even filled also presents its own set of hazards. Installing the dumpster on a concrete floor, for example, may potentially break it as a dumpster is being loaded.
No customer can ever be too safe when it comes to their dumpster. If you have any questions or concerns about safety, be sure to speak with us directly. We would be happy to provide more information on safety processes and what materials are not allowed to be placed inside a dumpster.
